Behavioral Intake and Assessment Certificate program is designed to assist students with developing specialized and professional skills sets required for entry level-employment opportunities with community mental and behavioral health service providers. This course focuses on training students on important skills, but not limited to, foundations of intake and assessment procedures, in-outpatient services, clerical knowledge and practices,administrative and management principles, coordinating patient care with healthcare service providers in the community all while applying the guidelines of a multiple disciplinary team approach.
Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of the program students will able to:
1. Demonstrate understanding of important community resources available to identified at risk populations.
2. Identify important intake and assessment screening procedures, such as gathering personal patient bio data and applying code of ethics of confidentiality and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
3. Apply best practices methodology when engaging with patients to ensure quality human services.
4. Analyze important evidence base practice research data in order to be informed of the latest practices implemented in the behavioral health sciences field.
5. Identify pathways of professional development by gaining knowledge of community based organizations that provide Continuing Education Programs.

Program goals and objectives are to prepare students entering the behavioral health services workforce with clerical, administrative, drug intake and assessment, human resources and customer services skills so student may apply best practices when working with various at risk populations seeking medical and behavioral services.

Program Requirements: Advisory Reading and Writing Levels: RW3 = Complete English 102 or Reading 101 or English 92 or 104.
Prerequisite Skills (Criteria): College level vocabulary, oral comprehension, study skills, reading and writing comprehension level.
