The Certificate of Achievement in Nursery, Greenhouse, and Grower Operations is designed to prepare students for work in retail or wholesale nursery operations, greenhouse operations, interior plantscape installation and maintenance, and ornamental and urban agriculture growing operations.

Program Goals and Objectives must address a valid transfer, occupational, basic skills, civic education, or lifelong learning purpose. Regional recommendation is only needed for programs with an occupational goal. This is an existing Career Certificate updated to be an approved Certificate of Achievement.

Diablo Valley College; Nursery and Greenhouse Operations; Bethallyn Black, Faculty; Response - I do not think your program will affect my program negatively. The demand for trained Nursery and Greenhouse workers is steadily increasing not only in California, but throughout the country. Your proposed program has a different emphasis as well, including viticulture training which we do not provide. Santa Rosa Junior College; Nursery and Greenhouse Operations; Joel R. Grogen, Coordinator; Response - I don’t believe that your certificate will negatively impact our program. I would assume there would be a greater potential for impacts to the colleges closer to yours – Merritt and Diablo Valley for example. Merritt College; Nursery Operations; Laura Forlin, Faculty; Response - It is tough to say if this will impact our program or not. Because we offer overlapping programs I suppose there is the potential it could impact our numbers, however you are farther away from us than Diablo Valley College which also has similar programs and we have not felt impacted by that program. We have on occasion had students come to our program from your area, however those are few and far between. I wish I could be more definitive but I just don't know the answer.
