This Certificate program will provide the student with training in wildland fire fighting which provides a working knowledge of how to fight fires in the wildland areas and between the urban and wildland interface. The Wildland Firefighting program is for those students who desire knowledge in wild land fire behaviors, firefighting tactics and strategy, and safety/survival techniques.
There is an average of 1,088 awards conferred annually in Los Angeles and Orange Counties for Fire Technology programs. Of that, 516 were certificates greater than 16 units.
Program Proposal Attributes
- Certificate of Achievement: 16 or greater semester (or 24 or greater quarter) units (C)
The student will be able to function and operate under wildland fire conditions including logistics, planning, and support services. This Certificate will enable the student to have the basic skills necessary to acquire a position in all levels of wildland fire fighting.
