The Energy Solar Photovoltaic Systems Technician Certificate is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills required to work as an entry-level technician for a photovoltaic (PV) dealer, installer, or contractor. In this course of study, the student is introduced to residential wiring and methods, system design issues, installation methods, safety and OSHA considerations, maintenance practices through classroom study and field work applications. This certificate of proficiency will be beneficial to individuals that plan on becoming employed in or currently work in the solar PV industry.

  1. Residential wiring methods, material, and National Electrical Code rules and regulations.
  2. OSHA Safety rules and regulations that cover workers in the construction field and what safety measures they are to be aware of while doing Solar (PV) installations.
  3. The basic theory of renewable energy and various applications used.
  4. Grid-Tied Solar Photovoltaic systems which includes theory, application, installation, and construction of materials in the field. 
  5. Advanced Solar Photovoltaic Systems and applications showing ways to optimize its operation and maximum efficiency and output.
  6. Monitoring and maintenance issues .
