This certificate wil prepare students to work as bookkeepers, general accounting clerks, or payroll clercks. The graduates will have the skills to maintain payroll, recievable, cash, and payable by journalizing, posting, and transaction recording and reporting.
As the certificate proposed is a new certificate, no integrated data regarding the projected numbers of graduates is currently available. However, based on the high demand for our currently offered CAOT 78, CAOT 82, and CAOT 85, we project to have a minimum of 17 completers per each academic year.
Program Proposal Attributes
- Certificate of Achievement: 16 or greater semester (or 24 or greater quarter) units (C)
Verify, journalize, and post accounting transactions
Use productivity software to communicate with the clients regarding documentation, reporting, and records maintenance
Create trial balance, income statement, balance sheet, and other accounting and financial statements
Perform complete accounting cycles
Perform journalizing and posting for different journals including cash, receivables, and payables
Calculate and post adjustments for depreciation, supplies, and wages
Calculate and post payroll information, including deductions and payables
Use electronic spreadsheet software to calculate and report accounting transactions

Course Report
The Computerized Bookkeeping program consists of 6 courses to accumulate the total certificate units. These courses will prepare completes on how to function as general bookkeeping professionals working in an accounting setting. Completers will perform different aspects of the accounting cycle including journalizing, posting, trial balance adjustments, income statement, cash flow analysis and balance sheet analysis. Other tasks include payroll, inventory evaluation, payable and receivables.
