Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Management Certificate of Achievement

Recreation and Leisure Studies will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to perform at an entry-level position in private and public agencies in various careers, including event planning, recreational program planning, sport and tournament planning, hospitality, therapeutic recreation, and tourism. Students will also be able to address health and safety concerns while administering these programs.
Upon completion of the required courses with at least a “C” or “P” grade in each course, the student will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement.
We anticipate 15 students to enroll in this program annually, with approximately 10 completions per year.

- Certificate of Achievement: 16 or greater semester (or 24 or greater quarter) units (C)
Bakersfield College's mission is to prepare students with skills needed in areas of employment. There has been significant growth in the Recreation industry and is in need of qualified workers. This certificate of achievement will prepare students of diverse economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds for entry-level employment in this industry. In addition, this certificate helps students prepare for employment in a diverse environment like Kern County.
