The Data Science Fundamentals Certificate prepares students for careers as data analyst, data scientist, machine learning engineers, business analyst, computer systems analyst, logistics analyst, marketing analyst, and database managers. The multidisciplinary program provides the analytical, methodological, and programming skills required in data processing, information technology, business, and computing. The certificate will also serve as a foundation for continued education at four-year institutions.

This certificate provides a foundation to data science and data analytics principles. Students will learn the fundamentals of data science, statistical analysis, relational databases, database management using SQL, and programming. Additionally, the courses included in the certificate could be used as a basis for a bachelor degree in Computer Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Math or used to fulfill general education requirements for a two- or four-year degree.

Item 1. Program Goals and Objectives
This certificate provides a foundation to data scienceand data analytics principles. Students will learn the fundamentals of datascience, statistical analysis, relational databases, database management usingSQL, and programming. Additionally,the courses included in the certificate could be used as a basis for a bachelordegree in Computer Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, DataScience, Math or used to fulfill general education requirements for a two- orfour-year degree.
Program Outcomes
· Demonstrate theability to apply statistical analysis of real world data using multiplerepresentations such as graphs, text, or tables, being mindful of concernsaround data bias and privacy.
· Use programmingand data analytics tools to make statistical inference on data and data setsusing computational techniques.
· Write computerscripts and programs to organize, produce visualizations, and numericalsummaries of data and data sets.

Item 4. Master Planning
Fall 22 - Offer CIS 88 or Math 88. Continue to offer new courses to increase student enrollment and completion.
The other courses that are part of the certificate are already offered consistently.
Item 5. Enrollment and Completer Projections
Interest in the Data Science Fundamentals Certificate of Achievement is expected to be modest at first and grow quickly through marketing efforts to bring this program into broader community awareness. Enrollment and completion of Data Science Fundamentals Certificate of Achievement are projected to be at least 20 students per year completing after the inaugural first two years of this program.
