Certificate in Interior Design VisualCommunication emphasizes proficiency in industry specific software includingAutoCAD, Revit, and Sketchup, as well as basic design skills and varioustechniques for visual presentation. Study of building systems and current codesare also included. This certificate prepares students for entry levelemployment as interior design support personnel who are skilled in manual andcomputer drafting, rendering, model making and production of presentations forInterior Design, Architecture and Engineering fields.

Upon the successful completion of the InteriorDesign Visual Communication Certificate of Achievement, students shall be able performthe following tasks:

·        Utilizeterminology related to design elements and principles.

·        Evaluatepsychological and physiological characteristics of design elements and principles.

·        Integrateculture, geographic, economic, and political factors in the use of design elementsand principles.

·        Applybasic theories of design in two dimensional graphic presentations and three dimensionalobjects and models.

·        Utilizevarious materials, equipment, media, and tools required in the preparation ofprofessional quality graphic presentations.

·        Communicatedesign ideas in written, oral and graphic form.

·        CreatePortfolio pieces that include descriptive geometry.

·        Demonstratean understanding of construction documents for interiors.

·        Createaccurate drawings for residential and non-residential interiors according to industrystandards.

·        Demonstrateskill in drawing in 2D with a pencil, pen and computer.

·        Demonstratearchitectural lettering.

·        Designa title block.

·        Combineand develop various conceptual approaches into a single solution.

·        Drawdetails, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, electrical layouts, floor plans, furnitureplans and finish plans

·        Compileand print a set of interior design construction plans.
