The fire service is one of the most dynamic employers in the country. This CRC program is designed to provide the student with updated skills and knowledge necessary to complete and successfully apply for fire service positions. The curriculum serves as an in-service program as well as a pre-employment program for students seeking employment or advancement in the profession of fire prevention. Career opportunities include: Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator, Plans Examiner, Building Inspector, Fire Prevention Specialist/Officer, and Public Education Specialist/Officer

The estimated number of completers from the first cohort completing the program is 5. It is anticipated that enrollment and completions may continue to rise due to increased exposure of its availability among students, counselors, faculty and the construction industry.

Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to:

This associate degree program in fire prevention provides fundamental training in fire safety, fire suppression and current approaches to minimizing the potential for fire. Students learn about hazards of firefighting, operational characteristics of detection equipment, clues that reveal the sources or causes of fires and prevention planning.
