Fashion Styling and Personal Styling Certificate of Achievement

The Certificate of Achievement in Fashion Styling and Personal Styling is a hands-on, field-based program that teaches students the requisite skills to become fashion stylists, personal stylists, personal shoppers, and sales associates, for a retailer or as independent contractors. Coursework includes instruction in assembling a styling kit, the different aspects of merchandise styling, color and wardrobe selection, figure analysis, and setting up a business. Students completing this certificate will be qualified for employment as a photo, fashion show, film, video, and personal stylist.
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Apply the principles of design, skills, and styling techniques to diverse styling roles.
- Effectively communicate verbally using standard fashion terminology and references to fashion icons and designers, and visually through styling methods.
- Create and present digital mood boards that convey storytelling, inspiration, and creative direction.
- Assemble and maintain a fashion styling kit.
- Create a digital and printed styling portfolio for entrepreneurial business and entry-level employment.
The minimum time for completion of this certificate is two semesters. Completion time will vary based on student preparation and number of units completed per semester.

The goal of the Certificate of Achievement in Fashion Styling and Personal Styling is to provide students with foundational knowledge and skills required for entry-level employment in the fashion styling and personal styling arena. The general areas in which students may find work are retail department stores, boutiques, television and film studios, and magazine publications, to name a few.
