The Computer Information Systems Associate of Science program prepares students for an entry-level job in information technology. Students develop fundamental computer skills, becoming proficient in computer troubleshooting and repair,networking, programming, security, databases, and cloud computing. This program is designed to be delivered as an all online program.
The degree is designed to train and educate students to in the basics of the every growing Computer Information Systems field, whether they enter the workforce directly or seek more education at a transfer institution. Students gain skills for information technology occupations such as network and system administrator, computer support specialist, information security analyst, computer network support specialist, and network and computer systems administrator.
Program Student Learning Outcome
1. Identify computer hardware, and diagnose hardware problems
2. Implement simple algorithms, automate business processes, and visualize data using the Python programming language
3. Describe network components, protocols, architectures, and the application of current communication and networking technologies.
4. Determine how to detect and stop security breaches in networks and applications, and help organizations increase awareness of security policies and procedures.
5. Design a database to meet defined requirements and implement queries in SQL.
6. Explain the core concepts of the cloud computing paradigm and apply fundamental concepts in cloud infrastructures to understand the tradeoffs in power, efficiency, and cost.
Estimated at least 20 certificate completers with a maximum class size of 35.

Course Report
To ensure that students in the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Associate of Science program are prepared for for jobs in a variety of organizations, the program courses include computer hardware, operating systems, fundamentals of networking, the cloud, security, programming and help desk concepts. The jobs in the CIS field require excellent customer service skills, strong communication skills and a broad and strong knowledge of computers and computer systems. The CIS courses provide the knowledge and skills that ensure students are prepared for entry-level computer support jobs. The General education courses present a broad overview of different academic disciplines which prepare students for further education or career advancement.
