Catalog Description

Catalog Description

The CAM & CNC 3-axis mill Certificate of Achievement provides students with the specialized skills to meet the growing demand for skilled CNC machinists in precision manufacturing industries.

With hands-on training in operating and programming 3-axis milling machines, the certificate ensures students are job-ready for high-demand fields like aerospace, automotive, medical device, and other related manufacturing fields. By focusing on technical proficiency, safety, and part inspection, this certificate equips graduates with the knowledge to contribute to efficient, accurate, and safe manufacturing.

This certificate prepares students to operate, program, and set up 3-axis CNC milling machines used in precision manufacturing. Students learn how to read technical drawings, select materials, and apply the correct machining processes to produce accurate, high-quality parts.

The certificate also emphasizes safety protocols, programming using CAM software, CNC machine setup and machining, and part inspection. Graduates are prepared for careers in industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical device manufacturing, and general machining, where they can work as CNC machinists, operators, or programmers.

Program Learning Outcomes

After earning the certificate students will:

 1. Demonstrate safe and appropriate part handling for advanced milling work.

 2. Utilize and demonstrate advanced programming with Mastercam Mill.

 3. Verify accuracy of program keystrokes using backplot.

 4. Perform computer machining programs with precision and accuracy using a range of techniques.

Enrollment Completer Projections

The projected number of students that will complete the certificate/degree annually will be approximately 5 to 7 students.
