CNC & CAM Mill Advanced Certificate
New Program
Manufacturing and Industrial Technology (095600)
09/18/25
This certificate prepares students to operate, program, and set up 4th and 5-axis CNC milling machines used in precision manufacturing. Students learn how to read technical drawings, select materials, and apply the correct machining processes to produce accurate, high-quality parts. The certificate also emphasizes safety protocols, programming using CAM software, CNC machine setup and machining, and part inspection. Graduates are prepared for careers in industries such as aerospace, automotive, medical device manufacturing, and general machining, where they can work as CNC machinists, operators, or programmers.
The CAM & CNC mill advanced Certificate of Achievement provides students with the specialized skills to meet the growing demand for skilled CNC machinists in precision manufacturing industries. With hands-on training in operating and programming 4th and 5-axis milling machines, the certificate ensures students are job-ready for high-demand fields like aerospace, automotive, medical device, and other related manufacturing fields. By focusing on technical proficiency, safety, and part inspection, this certificate equips graduates with the knowledge to contribute to efficient, accurate, and safe manufacturing.
The program aims to provide students with the technical skills to operate, program, and set up 4th and 5-axis CNC milling machines for precision manufacturing. Objectives include developing proficiency in reading technical drawings, applying CNC setup and machining operations, ensuring part accuracy, and adhering to safety standards in various manufacturing industries.
Program Learning Outcomes
After earning the certificate students will:
1. Demonstrate depth of knowledge in a course, discipline, or vocation by applying practical knowledge, skills, abilities, theories, or methodologies to solve unique problems.
2. Apply various software programs to write CNC code for the production of manufactured parts.
3. Use CNC machines and CNC machine tools to produce manufactured parts.
4. Employ various software tools while integrating traditional methods of programming and controlling the machining process for effective set-up, troubleshooting and finishing.
The projected number of students that will complete the certificate/degree annually will be approximately 5 to 7 students.
