The Early Childhood Education Teacher Certificate Program prepares the student to provide service in the care, development and instruction of children in a licensed early care and education program. In many of the courses taken in this program, students will study, observe and learn utilizing the Child Development Laboratory Instructional Classrooms or any other approved pre-school setting. This certificate plus 16 units of general education and 175 days of 3+ hours per day experience will meet the Title V Child Development Permit, Teacher level requirements. A grade of "C" or better is required in each course taken. The certificate requires the completion of 31-32 units.

The Early Childhood Education Teacher Certificate Program prepares the student to provide service in the care, development and instruction of children in a licensed early care and education program.
The program outcome goals for students completing the program are:
- Outcome: Upon successful completion of courses leading to the Early Childhood Education Teacher Certificate, the student will be able to know and understand the established as well as recent theories of child development.
- Outcome: Upon successful completion of courses leading to the Early Childhood Education Teacher Certificate, the student will be able to recognize and challenge issues of bias that children, individuals and families experience.
- Outcome: Upon successful completion of courses leading to the Early Childhood Education Teacher Certificate, the student will be able to analyze and think critically about the teacher’s comprehensive role in early learning and development settings.
- Outcome: Upon successful completion of courses leading to the Early Childhood Education Teacher Certificate, the student will be able to recognize and evaluate the interrelationships of the child, family, school and greater community.
- Outcome: Upon successful completion of courses leading to the Early Childhood Education Teacher Certificate, the student will be able to design quality early childhood programs and curriculum.

Course Report
A minimum grade of “C” is required in each course. The Early Childhood Education Teacher Certificate requires a total of 31-32 units. Students can obtain this certificate in 1 to 2 years. Student is required to obtain a valid American Red Cross First Aid Card or equivalent.
