The Food and Beverage Fundamentals Certificate offers a fast and accessible introduction to key concepts and skills in food and beverage service. This low-unit program equips learners with the essential employability skills needed to start or grow a career in the hospitality industry.

 Goal: The Food and Beverage Fundamentals Certificate of Achievement is designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in hospitality operations. Through this program, students will develop expertise in essential areas such as safety and sanitation, menu planning, cost controls, and customer service. The curriculum integrates practical skills and theoretical knowledge, emphasizing industry standards, historical and cultural contexts, and emerging trends. Graduates of this program will be well-prepared to navigate the dynamic challenges of the food and beverage industry and achieve success in various operational roles.

Program Requirements Narrative

This Certificate of Achievement is designed to be completed in two semesters. In the first semester, students will complete HOTFS-10, Introduction to Hospitality Management (3 units), and HOTFS-14, Food and Beverage Management (3 units). In the second semester, students will complete HOTFS-21, Purchasing, Cost Controls, and Menu Planning ( 3 units), and CUL-15, Sanitation, Safety, and Equipment Management (3 units).
