The Business Information Professional I Certificate of Achievement is a career pathway designed to help students acquire communication, technical, and management skills and knowledge that are in demand for the 21st Century  workplace. These include presentation, critical thinking, and oral/written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook); and management skills including leadership, collaboration, decision-making, problem solving and human relations. Students who complete the Business Information Professional I  Certificate are prepared for entry-level office and administrative support positions  in a variety of business environments.

Program Requirements Narrative

The Business information Professional is meant to be completed in 1 year including summer session. 

Students would ease into the program with 6 units for the first semester, 3 units summer and  10 units for Spring. --

 Fall : CAP 10A, CAP 33A, CAP 070, CaP 071E (6 units)

Summer: BUS 21 (3 units)

Spring: BUS 78B, BUS 107, BUS 118, CAP 062B, CAP 046D (10 units)

According to the LMI Report, "... there is a large labor market gap in the Bay region with 21,248 annual openings for the Business Information occupational cluster and 218 annual (3-year average) awards for an annual undersupply of 21,030 students. In the Silicon Valley Sub-Region, there is also a gap with 5,506 annual openings and 7 annual (3-year average) awards for an annual undersupply of 5,499 students."

Based on the LMI Report, it appeared that there were no other colleges in the service area that would be impacted by Bus Information Pro I Program. So I have not contacted any others. Additionally, according to the LMI Report, There are 22 community colleges in the Bay Region issuing 218 awards on average annually (last 3 years) on TOP 0514.00 - Office Technology/Office Computer Applications. There are four colleges in the Silicon Valley Sub-Region issuing 7 awards on average annually (last 3 years) on this TOP code.
