The FTMA: Audio - Certificate of Achievement introduces students to the fundamentals of audio
recording for film, television, radio, and podcasting. After successfully completing a FTMA: Audio - Certificate of Achievement, a student could be hired as a: boom operator, sound mixer, sound editor, foley artist, audio engineer,second sound engineer, audio recordist, audio director, assistant audio technician, podcaster, radio broadcaster, radio announcer, technical sound designer, post sound coordinator, and other jobs on the sound team.
Projection of number of students to earn certificate annually: 10 FTMA: Audio - Certificate of Achievement completers annually.
Program Proposal Attributes
- Certificate of Achievement: 8 to fewer than 16 semester (or 12 to fewer than 24 quarter) units (B)
The FTMA: Audio - Certificate of Achievement introduces students to the fundamentals of audio recording for film, television, radio and podcasting and creates a valid Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway. Students who complete FTMA: Audio - Certificate of Achievement will be able to demonstrate professional skills in audio that will enable them to work in an entry-level radio, podcasting, or audio job. A FTMA: Audio - Certificate of Achievement may lead to a broad range of employment opportunities in the entertainment industry. According to O*Net Code Connector the occupational groups of "Audio and Video Equipment Technicians have a"Bright Outlook". (2019)
LMI findings state that the medium wage of Radio and Television Announcers is$23.02; Audio and Video Equipment Technicians is $22.44; and Sound Engineering is $31.35. EDD projects over a 14% employment change (outlook) for Audio and Video Equipment Technicians.
