Purpose and Goals and Specific Objectives of Degree/Certificate

  The Certificate of Achievement in Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician will provide the students with the soft and hard skills needed for a career in heavy equipment maintenance. It will also provide the students currently employed in various equipment maintenance positions the additional and necessary skills to advance in their career.

The certificate will provide the students seeking employment in the heavy equipment field a basic understanding of the major heavy equipment systems and their periodic maintenance and minor repairs. Upon successful completion of the certificate courses the student will have a basic understanding of heavy equipment maintenance and the ability to safely perform periodic maintenance of electrical, hydraulic and powertrain systems, and diesel engine service.
