De Anza College was the first College in California to have offered a certificate program in Database Designer for Developer and has been successful in its implementation by training hundreds of professionals in Silicon Valley serving in Fortune 200 companies and many small and medium size organizations. Local Colleges including West Valley College, Mission College, Foothill College, Evergreen College, Mission College, Chabot College, Diablo Valley College and Los Positas College started offering coursework in this subject area after 2005 and have developed Certificate of Achievement. The approach taken by institutes combines teaching of productivity tools combined with some project management training. Our stance is different in that we closely follow the standards and certification being created by major database companies providers. Each of our course allows our student to appear for a certification examination after completing a course with Oracle, Amazon or other database providers. This provides more opportunities for employability. We are the first Community College in California that is proposing an Associate degree in Database Practitioner with commitment to publish our curriculum to California Virtual Campus, delivering on a promise for education to all California residents, living anywhere in the state, with exposure to content to educate on emerging technology platform, so skills attained by professional are current to the marketplace.
