We were advised by the BACCC to look at the following Colleges (West Valley, DeAnza, and San Jose City) in our service area that had similar programs. 1. West Valley College: Project Management Certificate of Achievement Contacted: Jim Henderson, Dept. Chair, Business on 10/20/20. Response: Jim Henderson responded 10/20/20. “No problem. We have deactivated this certificate.” Outcome: Since WVC’s Project Management Certificate has been deactivated, it won’t have an impact. 2. DeAnza College—Project Management Practitioner Certificate of Achievement Contacted: Mary Pape, Dept. Chair, CIS on 10/20/20. Mary forwarded my request to Sukhjit Singh, the head of the PM Practitioner program. On 10/21/20, Sukhjit requested more information, and I sent the POR of the Project Coordinator as well as descriptions of all of the courses in the Project Coordinator Program to him. Response: Sukhjit Singh responded on 10/21/20: “This should not impact our program. You are doing a lot more business skills and we are focused on PM. All my best. This is a good opportunity with YearUp and internships.” Outcome: Should not impact DeAnza’s program. 3. San Jose City College— 10/20/21 to 10/21/20. I could not find any reference to project management, project coordinator programs or courses. The only thing I found was just two Management certificates. These did not contain any project management courses. The other program that might have project management courses was in Construction Technology. Again, did not find any project management courses or certificates. 4. Diablo Valley College-. The only other community college in the bay area that has a Year Up partnership in Project Management is Diablo Valley College. However, they are not in our services area, so we did not contact them.
