Basic IT Operations Essentials

This certificate of achievement has been designed with input from an industry partner. The purpose of this certificate's to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to execute essential IT operations. Upon completion of these courses, the student will have the skills necessary to be able to acquire either an entry level help desk position at the beginning of their career, or a mid-level position, if they have existing relevant business operations experience within the organization. In addition, students who complete the certificate will be prepared to sit for the following industry recognized certifications: CompTIA Security+, Project+, and ITIL v4.
It is anticipated that 10-15 students per year will complete this Certificate.

In collaboration with a local employer, this certificate has been developed to provide education and training for existing employees. Course Report
There are no prerequisites for the courses in this program. However, MPC Computer Information Systems faculty recommend that students take the courses in the following sequence:
CSIS 1, Computer Information Systems provides an overview of various Computer Information Systems topics. It is designed to provide students insight about the various opportunities available in the information technology field, including the role of each in supporting business operations. Students will develop an understanding of what each area does, how they relate to each other.
CSIS 98 Project Development introduces students to the Project Management process. It will prepare students for the Project+certification.
CSIS 81 ITIL Essentials provides students with a basic understanding of ITIL. It will prepare students for the ITIL4 certification.
CSIS 86 Network Security Fundamentals/Security+ Prep provides students an entry level security course leading to CompTIA Security+ certification
