Certificate of Achievement: Project Management
Program Modifications (formerly substantial changes)
Business Management (050600)
08/01/22
Organized and effective project management is an important part of the logistics necessary for success for many leaders, supervisors and managers. Project managers take the lead on key initiatives and ensure that projects meet objectives by managing people, processes, and information. This project management certificate provides important concepts in project management, providing essential knowledge and skills needed to step into a project management role in order to advance business, governmental or personal goals. Upon completion of this certificate, students may then take addition courses to complete and AS degree in Business Management. Please look under Business Management within the Southwestern College catalogue for more information.
We anticipate approximately thirty students per year initially enrolling in this program with ten to twenty completions a year. We hope that enrollments will increase overtime.

MiraCosta College endorses given this is a modification. Agree with COE that we not encourage new programs given the oversupply and large number of education providers.
John Edwards · 05/27/22
Southwestern College submitted the appropriate LMI from the COE. The COE does not recommend developing a new program for these occupations because 1) there is an estimated oversupply in the region and 2) a large number of institutions train for these occupations. Colleges should also note that employers typically require a bachelor’s degree as the minimum educational requirement for these occupations. However, because this is a program modification, the COE defers to the region.
