Catalog Description

The Commercial Dance Certificate of Achievement is an intensive one-year training program that focuses on jazz, commercial dance, hip-hop, repertory, production, choreography, studio teaching methodology, and outreach touring performance. In addition to performance skills, students receive training in audition and interview techniques, resume building, social media marketing trends, and entrepreneurial networking strategies. The program culminates in a practicum, followed by an internship designed to equip students with the essential skills for entry-level positions in the commercial and entertainment industries, studio instruction, performance, and choreography. The Commercial Dance Certificate program is designed for advanced students and consultation with department faculty/instructor is highly recommended prior to enrollment.

The Commercial Dance Certificate of Achievement is a one-year, intensive program designed to equip students with both the technical skills and professional knowledge required for success in the commercial dance and entertainment industries. With specialized training in jazz, hip-hop, choreography, production, and studio teaching, students will refine their artistic abilities while gaining practical experience through a final course practicum and internship. Alongside performance skills, the program emphasizes audition preparation, resume building, and the latest social media marketing trends to prepare students for entry-level careers in dance, performance, and instruction.

In addition to mastering various dance styles, students will develop essential entrepreneurial and networking skills needed to thrive in a competitive industry. The program provides a well-rounded approach, ensuring graduates are not only technically proficient but also professionally ready for opportunities in studio instruction, choreography, and beyond. Admission is selective, based on audition or instructor approval, allowing for personalized guidance tailored to each student’s growth and career goals.
