Data Analytics
New Program
Computer Programming (070710)
08/26/24
Data is a group of facts that can take many different forms, such as numbers, pictures, words, videos, observations, and more. Data analytics is the collection, transformation, and organization of these facts to draw conclusions, make predictions, and drive informed decision-making. This program prepares students with fundamental statistics concepts and Python programming skills. Through the data analytics project, students will collect/clean/organize data for analysis, conduct data analysis/calculations, and visualize/present data reports To earn a certificate of achievement, students must complete each course used to meet a certificate requirement with a “C” grade or higher. |

Data analysts are in high demand and can be found in a diverse mix of industries. Any company that uses data needs data analysts to analyze it.
This program will help students get the first step into the data analytics field and be more competitive in the workplace with living wage.
There are no data science related courses offered at DVC. Students who successfully complete the statistics course can pursue this program by taking two more courses, Python programming and Intro to Data Science, to obtain the certificate.
Moving forward, this program will include additional existing (MS EXCEL, Database SQL related) courses and possible a new course (R Programming) to more well-prepared students for the future education and career paths.
