Program Goal
The Business Administration Department Advisory Committee approved the CPA Accounting Requirements Certificate at its meeting on November 17, 2017. On December 22, 2017, President Trump signed into law the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, the most sweeping overhaul of the United States Tax Code in three decades. The changes resulting from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 are expected to create increased demand for tax preparation professionals. Unlike becoming a CPA, there is no degree required to become an Enrolled Agent. The wide variety of employment options make the Enrolled Agent certification an excellent professional designation for students seeking a rewarding career. To best meet the needs of ELAC students, 65% of whom come to ELAC to prepare to enter or advance in the workforce, the Business Administration Department is creating the Pathway to Enrolled Agent program.
