Catalog Description
The Leadership Certificate is divided into 3 sections. Foundation Courses, Intermediate Courses and Advanced Courses. Students must pass an assessment test at SBVC in order to qualify for these courses (a prerequisite). This will verify a basic understanding of math, computer technology and English before taking the classes in the Certificate. There are no other prerequisites required for this Certificate. The Catalog Description for this Leadership Certificate is: The certificate in Leadership/Management program provides students with a foundation and understanding of basic business philosophies, skills and techniques that are required to become productively employed in assisting in the management of a business enterprise. This program is designed for students who wish to prepare for a career in the administration of modern organizations. It surveys the functional operations of business organizations, giving special consideration to the management of human resources, law, ethics, marketing, accounting practices, and economics.
Enrollment Completer Projections
This was proposed to the WAFC recently - during Southern California Advisory Meeting and is something that ALL participating retailers (Stater Bros, Vons, Safeway, Food 4 Less, Raplphs, Costco, etc.) ALL agreed would be and excellent addition to be able to offer their lower level managers. USC offers a program that is extremely expensive and the retailers only send TOP management to this program. This new Certificate at SBVC would allow current and future management to enroll, along with companies in our region. After the certificate is announced, we expect 10 or more on an annual basis to be enrolled and complete the Leadership Certificate.

Program Goal
The goal of the Leadership/Management Certificate is to prepare students for a career as a Leader or Manager in virtually any type of company. The SOC code 11-0000 covers the entire field of Management from Line Managers to Upper Management. As the growth of industry returns to the Inland Empire, the lack of education is the main barrier from finding the talent that is needed to work in these new jobs arriving daily. It is the intention of this Leadership/Management certificate to prepare students for higher paying jobs as a Manager or a Leader inside new or existing companies here in the Inland Empire, consonant with the Strong Workforce initiative. All of the courses in this certificate transfer to CSU or UC. Also, the Western Association of Food Chains (WAFC) will be a great feeder for our Leadership/Management certificate, as they have expressed a high level of interest in this certificate for all food chains. SBVC currently offers the Retail Management Certificate in support of the WAFC.
