The Hospitality Certificate of Achievement (16-18 units) is designed to develop skills for careers in hospitality. Upon completion of this certificate students demonstrate an overall understanding of the hospitality industry and its diverse sectors, and specific knowledge of hotel management, including operational departments, and cost control, with a focus on orientation to customer service, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, sustainability, legal, and ethical issues across the industry. This program prepares students for careers in lodging, food and beverage, tourism, and events, focusing on customer service and guest experiences. Key roles include hotel managers, chefs, servers, event planners, property management and front desk staff.
The newly formed hospitality advisory board and the labor market indicator analysis both project strong growth and demand for labor within the next one to five years in the hospitality industry with several new hotels and a casino under construction. The expectation is that there will be between 15-20 completers within the first year after the program is fully established.

Program goal is occupational.
Over the years, the Business Advisory Committee has inquired about hospitality programming particularly in the Eastern Sierra College Center service areas of Mono and Inyo Counties. Recently, there has been interest as well in the Ridgecrest, Tehachapi, and outlying areas for a hospitality program as a result of plans for new hotel, casino and restaurant facilities throughout the College's service areas. The purpose of this program is to meet employer needs in the area as well as provide local opportunities for students and workforce for hospitality training and career advancement. This program, Hospitality Management AS-T aligns with the CSU ADT curriculum and is comprised of the newly proposed Hospitality Management Certificate of Achievement program courses plus Cal-GETC general education requirements.

- Identify major ongoing trends in customer behavior and service in the global hospitality industry.
