Submission Type

New Program

TOPs Code

Electron Microscopy (093470)

Projected Start Date

Catalog Description
This program is designed to promote the student to work within the Microscopy Sector, as an entry-level technician to support any and all Microscopy-related equipment and sample preparation tool sets. After attaining a certificate of achievement in Basic Field Service Technician Training, a comprehensive understanding of basic preventative maintenance and daily upkeep of tool sets would be viable for success in the field as an entry level technician. Students understand the basic component operations, locations, design, identify failure types, replacement strategies and basic troubleshooting skills to isolate vacuum issues or electronics failures to compartmentalize root causes and source of failures. This certificate program welcomes any and all students that look to pursue a career in the technical field to apply direct hands-on training and comprehensive theory to complete technical writing, operations and technical troubleshooting, on an entry level requirement.
Enrollment Completer Projections
8-12 Students, working on a fast track system to allow for a different demographic of students. There is a great need for operators within the Silicon Valley and an even greater need for service personnel to upkeep the equipment on the service side of running microscopes.
As referenced by the current LMI report, Equipment Repairers and Technicians are in high demand and with good working wages. Projections for Jobs are on the rise and the need for such a program to help fill this void in industry will generate a demand for such a certificate to be awarded.  As much as we need technicians and operator to run the system, we also see an increase of the working class retiring, justifying a need for the new generation of working class to fill this much needed void.
