  • Certificate of Achievement: 16 or greater semester (or 24 or greater quarter) units (C)
Program Goal

The Certificate of Achievement in Photography supports the Modesto Junior College mission by addressing the needs of our students with the goal of developing an independent photography business or seeking employment in the regional community workforce as a photographer.  The Certificate of Achievement in Photography Advisory Committee validates the certificate as a method of documenting students’ technical skills for employment.  The courses associated with the program are also offered as a part of the Photography AA Program, and the Advisory Committee has offered suggestions regarding how to grow the program offerings such as green screen knowledge for event photography and drone photography training.  Additionally, Committee member, Scott Neilson of Nielson Photographic offered to take on student interns actively pursuing the Certificate of Achievement in Photography.  Upon satisfactory completion of this award, the student should be prepared to:

1. Demonstrate essential knowledge of camera operations and photographic lighting strategies. 2. Make informed assessments of quality and effectiveness in works of art, including their own. 3. Plan, design and produce original photographic works. 4. Demonstrate understanding of relevant, professional careers in the photographic industry.
