Catalog Description

The Sports Medicine certificate is designed to provide students with opportunities to acquire the basis of knowledge, skills, and abilities for a potential career in sports medicine and/or athletic training. The certificate is designed to affirm student's practicum skills in basic sport injury care, prevention, and rehabilitation.

Program Goal

The Sports Medicine Certificate prepares student for entry-level jobs in the Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy fields (e.g. PT Aide). It also provides some of the courses necessary to prepare students for continued study in the field of sports medicine with the goal of attaining a career in disciplines such as an Athletic Trainer, Athletic Rehabilitation, or Physical Therapy. Consideration has been given to transfer requirements of Athletic Training Education Programs at colleges and universities.
