AS Degree

The Sierra College Advanced Manufacturing Program prepares students for Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machining and is also ideal for students who need to upgrade prior machine shop training to comply with the current needs of the industry.

For the degree, students must fulfill the following major requirements with grades of “C” or better, complete a minimum of 60 degree-applicable semester units (12 of which must be completed at Sierra College) with a grade point average of at least 2.0 and complete one of the following two general education patterns:

Sierra College Associate Degree Requirements (Local General Education) 

California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC)

Enrollment Completer Projections

Enrollment 40 per year and Completion 5 per year, growing to 20+ per year

Program Goal

Provide students with middle skills needed for living-wage employment in manufacturing industries. This adjustment intends to 1) Streamline award attainment, 2) Provide students with a wider variety of course selections, 3) Accommodate employer requests to have employees with a broader knowledge of manufacturing, and 4) Show a new course numbering system in Award Details.

Program Requirements Narrative

ADVM 0028 is an internship, and ADVM 0029 is an industry certification class. MECH 1 and WELD 11 satisfy Sierra College GE Physical Science Requirement

This area should continue to expand, and this program seems to fit into the industry expansion. The job market appears to show favor, and these students should be able to attain a living wage.
