In our service area, several institutions offer programs related to nutrition, health, and wellness; however, the Nutrition, Wellness, and Healthy Cooking Certificate of Achievement at LBCC is unique in its integration of nutrition science with practical, hands-on cooking skills. This specific combination prepares students to promote health through balanced, culturally responsive, and wellness-focused meals while building competencies for careers in community health, foodservice, and culinary nutrition. While neighboring colleges may offer programs in Nutrition and Wellness, or Fitness Education, LBCC’s certificate distinguishes itself by emphasizing the role of healthy cooking as both a personal and professional tool for disease prevention and wellness promotion.
