Course Report

Program Requirements Narrative

We are making modifications to this program to improve completions and to give students knowledge and application of video. The GCMW 120 course (Designing for the Social Web) will be replaced with the DBA 105 course (Multimedia Storytelling). DBA 105 is offered more often than GCMW 120, and it gives students necessary skills for creating video content that is very much in demand on today’s social media platforms.

MiraCosta recommends given a modification only as the reasons for no new programs is compelling. Based on MiraCosta's enrollment experiences with social media programs and classes the concerns of COE are also compelling.

Palomar college submitted the appropriate LMI from the COE. The COE does not recommend developing a *new* program for this occupation because 1) there is an oversupply in the region; and 2) there is a high number of institutions that train for this occupation. However, because this is a program modification and entry-level wages are above the living wage, the COE defers to the region. The colleges should also note that employers typically require a bachelor's
