NOTE: This is an existing CCCCO approved certificate of achievement. As with many other programs at RC, the program was approved so long ago that required documentation is missing. Due to the requirement of including Consortium endorsement documentation in the inventory, the program is being submitted to obtain the missing documentation.

Catalog Description:

Students will have the knowledge, training, and hands-on experience to pursue a career in Natural Resources emphasizing the measurement of objects at or near the Earth’s surface in the context of managing resources for multiple use. They will enter the workforce with specialized surveying, mapping, GIS, GPS, and photo interpretive training.

Program Goal

The goal of this program is to provide occupational skills training for students seeking a career in the Career Technical Education(CTE) field of forestry. 

Upon completion of the program students will be able to:

Communicate effectively, including use of proper presentation and interpretative techniques to, the public and co-workers, using diverse media.

  1. Utilize and apply digital/electronic technology and specialized software programs for forest mapping, inventorying, and

  2. Demonstrate a breadth of knowledge of scientific, social, and political issues tied to the natural resources industry, providing a base for decision making and credibility in personal interactions and career decisions.

  3. Perform technical skills important for entry level positions in the forestry and natural resources field.

  4. Successfully secure and maintain seasonal employment in the forestry and natural resources field while demonstrating professional ethics.

  5. Describe scientific concepts and processes which affect the sustainability of natural resources.
