Goal of Program

CTE

Include any other information you would like to share.
While there are certificate programs in Interior Design, Civil Engineering, Surveying, and Renewable Energy (Solar Photovoltaic), all of these certificates are aimed at training professionals or support personnel for designers in related fields who contribute a component to the construction project. Construction Management focuses on work done after the design is complete and involves the scheduling of labor and equipment, cost estimating, jobsite safety, contract documents (i.e. construction contracts, specifications and drawings), and issues related to completing a construction project. This program focuses on the discussion of construction skills. The students are made aware of the usage of construction tools and materials placement in a discussion and demonstration setting.
Please list similar programs at other colleges in the service area which may be impacted, including the name of the college, the name of the program that may be impacted, the name of the person you contacted and the outcome of that contact.
Mendocino College offers some Construction Certificates: Introduction to Construction Trades, Sustainable Construction and Energy Technology: Building Efficiency and Performance, Sustainable Construction, and Energy Technology: Construction, and Sustainable Construction, and Energy Technology: Renewable Energy. These certificates are complementary but do not duplicate the proposed major. Neither College of Marin nor Napa Valley College offer Construction Programs.
