Program Goal

Upon the successful completion of theFinancial Planning Certificate of Achievement, students shall be able performthe following tasks:

·        Identifythe different types of investment options available to the investor

·        Compareand contrast the various financial security markets

·        Calculateand describe the degree of risk to the investor of various investmentalternatives

·        Differentiatean investor's degree of risk tolerance in developing an investment portfolio

·        Distinguishand interpret the risk that is inherent in any investment, especially as itrelates to the "risk versus reward" model of modern portfolio theory

·        Describethe various tools of investing that are used to determine the appropriatenessof any investment

·        Analyzethe concept of the Time Value of Money and recognize the critical role it playsin the investing process

·        Analyzethe impact that existing tax policy has on investment decisions

·        Createa sample portfolio for a fictional client and measure the results of investmentdecisions over the course of the semester

·        Utilizeinvestment research programs and software to analyze and complete investmentdecisions for a variety of client scenarios
