The bachelor’s degree in medical imaging supervision and leadership is designed to expand upon the basic skills of radiologic technologists in order to prepare them for advanced roles within medical imaging departments. The program will include instruction in leadership, human resources, financial analysis, and other related topics in order to gain the qualifications needed to serve in roles such supervisors, preceptors, coordinators and educators within medical imaging departments.
Admission into the baccalaureate degree in Medical Imaging Supervision and Leadership will require students to have completed the lower- division general education breadth for transfer courses, prerequisite courses, and all radiologic technology associate of science program courses. Students must have a current ARRT license in good standing.
The proposed baccalaureate degree program will be offered to all professionals in the region who currently have an associate degree and are working as radiologic technologists. Of the 220 past graduates who were surveyed, 84% or 184 individuals are interested in enrolling in the program if offered. If we consider this strong level of demand (84%) applied to the average number of degrees awarded by Fresno City College over the last five years (33), the expected level of demand per year would be 28 students.

As a baccalaureate level program, student learning outcomes will focus on synthesizing various topics relevant to supervision and leadership within medical imaging departments.
- Proficiency in applying labor laws and framing supervisory work within ethical, legal and accreditation standards in a professional imaging department
- Develop leadership skills specific to budgeting, planning, workflow optimization and staff development within radiology departments in the healthcare system
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of specialty imaging modalities and available career paths for certified technologists
- Apply adult learning theories to support and train radiologic technology students within the clinical setting
The Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging Supervision and Leadership degree prepares graduates for enhanced roles and responsibilities of radiologic technologists in administration, business, education, management, public health, research, and related fields.

Course Report
Admission into the baccalaureate degree in Medical Imaging Supervision and Leadership will require students to have completed the lower- division general education breadth for transfer courses, prerequisite courses, and all radiologic technology associate of science program courses. Students must have a current ARRT license in good standing. Upon admission, students will complete a minimum of 40 upper division units including 9 units of upper division general education, and 18 units of upper division major courses. Credit for Prior Learning of up to 13 units will be awarded for completion of radiologic technology courses and passing the licensure exam.
