Please list similar programs at other colleges in the service area which may be impacted, including the name of the college, the name of the program that may be impacted, the name of the person you contacted and the outcome of that contact.
Mission College is the only community college in Santa Clara County that offers a Fire Protection Technology Program and Degree. As such we will be the only program that offer this certificate in this county. There is only one other approved Accredited Regional Training Program (ARTP) that offers a Firefighter 1 Academy in the area, and that is through the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium. They currently offer approximately 25 seats per year. We met with Linda Vaughn, President of the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium, in Spring 2019 and discussed plans of offering a Fire Academy. All other ARTPs in the Bay area are at Community Colleges in neighboring counties: Community College of San Francisco, Chabot, College of San Mateo, and Monterey Peninsula College. Each college was contacted and they were all supportive of Mission College offering a Firefighter 1 Academy.
