To achieve the Sustainable Landscape certificate of achievement program, students will learn skills for employment and prepares them for crew leadership roles within the landscape industry. It teaches the skills required for exam preparation for industry-recognized credentials leading to irrigation, tree care, landscape, landscape maintenance or nursery certification; which are embedded in the course work. The landscape industry is a fifty-eight-billion-dollar industry with job opportunities in landscape maintenance, urban forestry, irrigation management, landscape construction, and restoration. The certificate is also stackable. It allows students to complete a sixteen-unit core of courses in Sustainable Landscape. The student has the option to complete courses in the Landscape Arborist track for a more complete certification or complete the Ornamental Horticulture Certificate of Achievement. The classes can also be applied toward the Ornamental Horticulture Associate of Science degree or Plant Science, Horticulture emphasis AS-T degree. This certificate aligns with the CTE Model Curriculum Sustainable Landscape Certificate through the California Community College Chancellor’s Office. Upon satisfactory completion of the listed requirements and filing an application for graduation with Admissions and Records, the student’s transcript will reflect completion of this certificate. The purpose for this certificate is to give a pathway to completion. This pathway will improve completion numbers for the program.  Upon completion, this certificate will increase employability. Adding students into the industry.  This will also fill industry demand for employees as requested by industry and advisory membership.  
Students completing this Ornamental Horticulture Sustainable Landscape certificate program will learn skills to prepare them for crew leadership roles within the landscape industry. The certificate allows students to complete a nine-unit core of courses and then choose between two options: a general landscape track or an arborist track. Skills required for exam preparation for industry-recognized credentials leading to irrigation, tree care, or landscape maintenance certification are embedded in the course work. The landscape industry is a fifty-eight-billion-dollar industry with job opportunities in landscape maintenance, urban forestry, irrigation management, landscape construction, and restoration.
