Catalog Description

Students successfully completing the outlined course of study will have the knowledge, training and hands-on experience to enter the workforce as an entry level Animal Packing Technician for employment in commercial pack stations or governmental agencies. Students will receive instruction in the areas of equine packing, equine handling, equine care, leading pack strings, managing risk of pack strings when interacting with the general public, minimum impact travel and camping management. Students will be prepared and experienced to operate independently with a string of two mules in the context of backcountry settings.
