AS Degree
The Sierra College Advanced Manufacturing Program prepares students for Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machining and is also ideal for students who need to upgrade prior machine shop training to comply with the current needs of the industry.
For the degree, students must fulfill the following major requirements with grades of “C” or better, complete a minimum of 60 degree-applicable semester units (12 of which must be completed at Sierra College) with a grade point average of at least 2.0 and complete one of the following two general education patterns:
Sierra College Associate Degree Requirements (Local General Education)
California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC)
Enrollment 40 per year and Completion 5 per year, growing to 20+ per year

Provide students with middle skills needed for living-wage employment in manufacturing industries. This adjustment intends to 1) Streamline award attainment, 2) Provide students with a wider variety of course selections, 3) Accommodate employer requests to have employees with a broader knowledge of manufacturing and safety.

Course Report
The Advanced Manufacturing AS degree provides a comprehensive understanding of the skills necessary for success in the Advanced Manufacturing industry. This program is designed to enable the student to enter industry with problem-solving skills in design, production, planning, materials handling, quality control, inspection and programming with computer-aided controls. The student, upon the successful completion of the program, will have job–entry skill and career advancement opportunities.
- Demonstrate safe setup and operation of Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) to manufacture prototype and production parts
- Evaluate the quality of the product of Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) process and adjust machine settings to make parts that conform to design specifications
- Design the process flow a Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) manufacturing process based on design specifications
- Apply parametric Computer Aided Design (CAD) principles to design and develop fully defined digital solid CAD models of mechanical components and assemblies
- Apply Computer Aided Design (CAD)/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology to generate code and setup documentation for Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) processes.
- Create product design concepts using digital design software
- Apply Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology to manufacture product prototypes
