Program Goal

The Electrotechnical Assistant Certificate of Achievement is a necessary step to accomplish the strategic
goal of harmonizing Modesto Junior College’s Industrial Electronics and Electrical technology programs
with the vision and goals of the Guided Pathways project (as defined by the California Community
Colleges Chancellor Office.) In the pursuit of that strategic objective, MJC proposes the rearrangement
of these programs in a sequence of smaller, and therefore shorter, programs leading to the Industrial
Electronics and the Electrician certificates of achievement. In such spirit, the specific goals of the
Electrotechnical Assistant Certificate of Achievement program are to deepen the skills obtained in the
previous certificate, the Electrical Maintenance Assistant CoA, and to be the previous stage in the
pursuit of one of the major awards in Industrial Electronics or Electrician MJC.
