Catalog Description
The Advanced Transportation Technology program offers students the opportunity to learn about the exciting world of electric vehicles, hybrids, and alternative fueled vehicles. As the transportation sector is moving away from fossil fuels, such as gasoline and diesel, this creates a new demand for qualified technicians who can maintain, service, and diagnose vehicle concerns. These courses are designed for students to have the best opportunity to learn the skills to meet the demand from industry.

Program Goal
The Automotive Technology department at Long Beach City College will be offering several Certificates of Achievement to provide students the knowledge and training they need to enter a specialized career or enhance their skills for advancement in their job. Coursework completed while earning a Certificate can also be applied to an Associate Degree. Alternative fuel vehicles will include propulsion systems used on passenger cars, trucks, sport-utility vehicles, public transport, buses, and port vehicles. Program Learning Outcomes: ● Define the pros and cons of various types of propulsion systems of alternative fueled vehicles. ● Formulate diagnostic strategies for resolving vehicle concerns.
