Program Requirements Narrative

We currently run a class in the Interior Design department that is required for an AS degree or Certificate of Achievement: ID151 Beginning Revit. I would like to change the curriculum to accept either ID151 Beginning Revit OR Arch 202 Beginning Revit, as they are equivalent classes. ID151 runs every spring, and Arch 202 runs every fall. If students can take either class, it will make earning their degree easier for them.

MiraCosta recommends given a modification only as the reasons for no new program development in this area is compelling.

Palomar College submitted the appropriate LMI from the COE. The COE does not recommend developing a *new* program for this occupation because 1) existing supply meets labor market demand in the region and 2) the percentage of students who obtained a living wage after completing a related program is below the state average for students who complete Career Education programs in general. Colleges should note that employers typically require a bachelor’s degree as the minimum educational requirement for this occupation. However, because this is a program modification, the COE supports the modification.

I support this program modification, as it gives students more options for completing required courses for the degree.
