The Certificate of Achievement in Wildland Fire provides students with basic knowledge for wildland fire operations and active land management. Coursework includes hands-on training with the tools and resources of wildland and prescribed fire operations. Students will engage in career development opportunities in both private and public industry sectors. This COA provides the necessary National Wildfire Coordinating Group certifications for entry level employment with local, state and federal land management organizations and agencies.
Upon satisfactory completion of this award, the student should be prepared to:
-meet minimum qualifications for entry level positions with organizations or agencies engaged with wildland fire operations.
-reach proficiency with wildland firefighting skills. This is measured by a field taskbook.
-obtain knowledge to interpret seasonal changes in the wildfire environment.

This program brings non traditional students to the workforce by expanding the recruitment pool of qualified entry level workers. This opens the industry sector to these non traditional students by achieving inclusion of all skills and abilities.
