Catalog Description

This certificate prepares students to design and implement emergent curriculum for children birth – 8 years. Provides a strong theoretical foundation for planning developmentally and culturally relevant curriculum which meets the needs of a diverse population. 

The program satisfies the specialization unit requirement for the Child Development Permit at the Master Teacher level.  If combined with the Child Development Core certificate program,  completion of this program qualifies the holder to be employed as a Preschool teacher.  If combined with the Child Development Lead Teacher certificate program, this program qualifies the holder to be employed as Lead Preschool Teacher or Mentor Teacher.

All classes must be completed with a grade of "C" or better to earn the certificate.
