New Program

Place of program in college's curriculum/similar program.
Over the last few years, Citrus College has gone from teaching only a few real estate courses, to now providing all the courses needed for a student to sit for the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) sales and broker examinations. Citrus College now offers, in addition to this modified Real Estate Sales Certificate, a real estate broker certificate, and it currently developing a Real Estate Appraisal program. Last year Citrus College also added an A.S. Degree in Real Estate, which has received a favorable response from traditional and non-traditional students. The interest in this program has continued to grow over the last few years and the demand for these classes has been a determining factor for adding an additional certificate for real estate sales agents.
List similar programs at other colleges in the Los Angeles and Orange County Region.
It is Citrus College’s intent to continue to offer a Real Estate Sales Certificate along with a few community colleges in the surrounding area. This certificate is essential in moving forward a directive by the California Chancellor’s Office to create programs that will lead to “Pathways to Success”. This certificate will provide a seamless process for students to progress from a sales certificate, to a broker’s certificate, to a A.S. degree in real estate, to a university, and then to a profession in real estate that will help grow the California economy. Citrus College, Mt. SAC, and Pasadena City College currently have such a certificate. Chaffey College is 20 miles from Citrus College and offers a Real Estate Certificate, which is a Real Estate Sales Certificate.
