This certificate prepares students for first level management jobs, support positions in personnel management, and positions in any firm utilizing self-managed teams. Many of these courses may be used to apply toward the fulfillment of the Associate in Arts Degree inBusiness Administration - Management, or Business Administration for Transfer, and all are CSU transferable.

The goal of the Management Certificate of Achievement is to equip students with the leadership, organizational, and human relations skills necessary to secure first-level management positions and support roles in personnel management. The program is specifically designed to address the needs of modern firms that utilize self-managed teams, providing students with a strong foundation in both traditional organizational theory and contemporary human capital management.

To earn the Management Certificate of Achievement, students must successfully complete 12 units of required core courses and 3 units of restricted electives, for a total of 15 units, with a grade of C (or P) or better. The sequence is structured to introduce students to general business environments and legal principles before advancing into specialized coursework in organizational theory and human capital management. Finally, students select a targeted elective to focus their skills on entrepreneurship, human relations, or supervision. The program is designed to be completed within two to three semesters, offering a rapid pathway to employment or a streamlined transition into an Associate in Arts Degree in Business Administration.

This program does not require the creation of new curriculum. It efficiently packages highly popular, existing business and management courses into a targeted occupational credential. It sits perfectly within the existing Business Administration department, functioning as a stackable, early-achievement credential that directly embeds into the Associate in Arts Degree in Business Administration - Management and the Business Administration AS-T.

General management and supervision certificates are common across the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) and the broader LARC region. However, Pierce College’s iteration is uniquely valuable to the San Fernando Valley workforce due to its heavy emphasis on modern "self-managed teams" and its strict adherence to 100% CSU transferable coursework. This ensures that students in the West Valley do not have to choose between immediate employability and long-term academic attainment; they achieve both simultaneously.
