Entry Level Firefighter - Certificate of Achievement
New Program
Fire Academy (213350)
08/24/20
Certificate of Achievement in providing students with courses meeting the requirements to become a National recognized Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and Certificate of Achievement courses required to become California State Fire Training (SFT) Firefighter 1 Certification for entry level employmentopportunities throughout the state and nation.
Anticipated enrollment: Enrollment is expected to expand and generate an increase in FTES as students now have a clear guided pathway to earn entry level certification requirements. Target population: Entry Level Firefighter is intended to provide for student equity when pursuing entry level Firefighter 1 Certification. By design the courses are modular in organization allowing for better access for students who typically had barriers to attending a traditional 16-week fire academy offered either through the new SWC 281F and281G (Open Enrollees) or other traditional fire academies in the region. Articulation with existing transfer colleges: This program is modeled after the San Diego Miramar College Program and it is expected students may take courses between both campuses as needed. AS completions of 30 per year.
