Program Goal

The goal of the Music Teacher Technology Certificate is  to offer teachers the skills needed in order to effectively use commercial music technology in a classroom or private teaching environment. Course work includes 3 industry certifications from leading music software developer, Avid.  These certifications include Digital Audio Workstation Techniques (Pro Tools), Video Game Audio (Pro Tools), and Music Notation Software (Sibelius).

In addition, students who complete the Music Teacher Technology Certificate coursework will be able to seek internships and employment as recording engineers, video game audio engineers, video game composers, film composers, audio editors for film, sound designers, and music copyist.

Program Requirements Narrative

Students are required to take courses in various forms of commercial music technology, found in the classroom and private teaching environments.  Coursework includes Avid Certifications in Digital Audio Workstation, Video Game Audio, and Music Notation.  Students are required to take 1-2 units of independent and create a professional portfolio.
